13 Questions With… Vintage Jeweller Catalina Rosca

Catalina Rosca’s jewellers  LILA’S is based on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich and combines an eclectic mix of pre-loved antique and contemporary jewellery, which is lovingly restored and reconditioned. Showcasing Edwardian and Victorian pieces alongside retro styles from the 30s and 40s, LILA’S champions environmental and social responsibility in production by reimagining precious metals and gemstones, giving them a new lease of life. LILA’S builds on the recycled, sustainable and bespoke whilst never compromising on style.

1)      What is your name and where do you live?

My name is Catalina Rosca and Iive in East Dulwich, London

2)      What is your favourite soulventure?

Visiting new exhibitions in London, there’s always something exciting to discover!

3)      What’s something that no-one would guess about you?

The origin of my accent.

4)      What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

Discipline. I don’t see any breakthrough in the near future, though.

5)      If you could be doing anything, anywhere, right now, what would it be?

I’d do research in genetics.

6)      Of what are you most proud?

Always finding a way to go forward.

7)      Who do you most admire and why?

Resilience and the ability to follow one’s dreams. My latest example would be James Cameron. I’ve recently watched his documentary Deepsea Challenge and I found it very inspiring.

8)      Best kiss of your life?

Proposal kiss, somewhere on a beach in Croatia after sunset.

9)      What is a new skill you’d like to learn (and why?)

Diving below 7m under sea. It’s a fascinating world and I’d like to travel around to discover new spots.

10)   Woods, mountain, city or sea?

City with an occasional sea break.

11)   If you could say one thing to lots of people, what would it be?

Things are getting better, overall with all the major issues in the world. We should stop whining about the good old days and start wondering how we can contribute to progress and good causes.

12)   What makes you happy?

Lots of little things like playing gymnastics with my daughters, a good debate, a revelatory book, a fun date with my husband, yoga, swimming, scrambled eggs with truffle oil, a nice, robust red wine and the list can go on.

13)   What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Drinking IPA!
